Know The Treatments And Facts About Dyshidrotic Dermatitis

Dermatitis is one of the most common skin problems that people are experiencing that even babies and children are susceptible to having this kind of horrible skin condition.  But on the other hand, it would help us prevent ourselves and our kids from having it if we broaden our knowledge and understanding about it.

And probably the most common but less popular type of dermatitis that we may not know about is the dyshidrotic dermatitis which is very much experienced by people who are experiencing dermatitis on their different parts of their bodies.  Here are some interesting facts that you need to know about dyshidrotic dermatitis and its cures and preventions to help us avoid having this kind of skin disease.

Other Names

If you are really not familiar with dyshidrotic dermatitis, some of you may not know it but it comes in names like hand eczema, Pompholyx, vesicular eczema, and vesicular palmoplantar eczema.  It is characterized by having scaly, dry, and itchy skin on your hands which may result to cracking, redness, and sometimes, boils, depending on the severity of the skin condition that you have.

Those people who may be susceptible or prone to having this dyshidrotic dermatitis are those that have asthma, excessive sweating, dermatitis on other parts of the body, and the person’s reaction to the different kinds of activities that are happening inside his or her body contribute to the cause of having this kind of skin problem.  Though as they say, the real cause of dyshidrotic dermatitis is still unknown, these factors could help contribute to trigger this kind of skin disease.

What You Could Do

Probably the best thing that you could do when it comes to giving attention to dyshidrotic dermatitis besides washing your hands with mild soaps and putting on gently formulated hand creams or lotions to help alleviate the symptoms of dryness is to seek medical evaluation.  By seeking medical evaluation for a rash on the hands or feet, you would then know what could be done to those parts of your body that are unresponsive to self-care measures.

Your doctor may prescribe medium to high potency topical steroids or even oral steroids may be advised to you by your doctor to help manage or control the signs and symptoms of dyshidrotic dermatitis.  And in some extreme cases, laser therapy called PUVA or psoralen and ultraviolet A phototherapy may be administered by dermatologist.
